A very interesting perspective on the attacks on the Danish et al from the middle east and beyond. Talks about why the attacks are happening now, and points a finger an Saudi Arabia. Covers a number of factors that the mass media seems to be ignoring.

I think this is a fascinating piece of analysis - why are no other outlets reporting this angle?

Very good analysis. I have to say I expected different, coming from Daily Kos, I figured they would be condoning the violence and saying once again that the West should not provoke the Muslims. But I was pleasantly surprised. More truth needs to be told about Saudi Arabia. I believe our media and our government turns a blind eye to Saudi Arabia's shenanigans solely because they sit on so much oil. If we could ever wean ourselves off of middle eastern oil maybe we could finally add Saudi Arabia to the axis of evil list, where they belong.

This article makes a very convincing case that the Saudis cynically fanned the flames of what was, admittedly, an offensive series of cartoons as a tactic to draw attention from their own ineptitude over Hajj safety. I agree with Dreamweavr72 that the American media is well-trained to turn a blind eye to Saudi mischief owing to our special relationship with the Saudi royal family.

More than a concerted effort by the media to ignore the Saudi roots of the cartoon furor, however, I believe that they have simply chosen to fit the incidents into a preconceived mold of religious fundamentalism. It doesn't take much creativity to imagine editors and producers across the US interpreting these events and taking the lazy way out-- "There they go again, those crazy Muslims. And over a cartoon."

Of course, the Muslim press has even less incentive to plumb the depths of the Saudi connection, considering the reverence in which the Kingdom's clerical elite is held.

Why hasn't this been reported, you ask? Because the media is lazy.

I agree, this changes the situation entirely.

I hesitantly opened the door, anticipating a fiery leftist apologetic for islamo-facist atrocities. Instead I was greeted with some gracious and well-reasoned banter. After listening intently, I shook Kos' hand knowing that I'd probably revisit him sooner, rather than later.

That whole book-and-cover-judging thing can get you when you least expect it.

Don't be fooled my friend. One decent article doesn't make up for a vast wasteland of hate and spittle that is the norm out dKOS's place.

It's about time someone told the whole story.

Sorry, that link prior seems to have stopped working. Here's basically the same thing:
